Happy Holidays!!! It's only the beginning of December but it has been a very busy month so far in my ventures as Miss Douglas County. At the beginning of the month I had the opportunity to go to Children's Hospital with Miss Omaha, Alexis Geist. We were joined by Alyssa who is the representative for Children's Miracle Network. She and other hospital representatives led Alexis and I around to visit some of the children's rooms. We had a fun afternoon getting to chat and take pictures with some of the spirited and courageous children and their families. Alexis and I both agreed that it was a very memorable experience.

On December 8th I braved the blustery winter road conditions and traveled to North Platte, Nebraska to attend this year's hospital fund raising gala. The theme of the holiday gala was "Come to the Cabaret" in Roaring 20's style. I served as co-emcee for the evening with the talented Bryan Horst. We were delighted to get dressed up in 20's attire with spats, tuxedo and gown included! Part of our duties as emcee's was to host the live auction where proceeds will be used to purchase a monitoring system for the Women's Services Department. The fundraising goal was set at $125,000. It was a very festive event and I was thrilled to be part of such a glamorous evening.

Finally, The Girls Scouts of Studio 2-B are gearing up for a holiday party and community service project. The girls are planning a service project to benefit the citizens of Lincoln over the holidays! I'll continue to keep you posted as this month unfolds.
